Nicolas Cilins  – HEAD

believers

My work explores a space where I am trying to leave the necessary clues for elaborating its geography. I would like the viewer to play the game; a game within which I can sometimes be the loser, often the fortune teller and always the scammer. I use found, stolen or bought images; to make them pieces for a game I apply diverse operations including titling, cutting, rescaling and live or video performing. To up the stakes, I blend contemporary art codes and cliché imagery. Like this literature, cinema or philosophy feed my reflections about beliefs, memory, identity or what metaphors can link fiction and reality. I would say that images have more power on us than we have on them and that is precisely why I want to outsmart them.
